Global Microsoft Exchange design and implementation

The client consisted of a number of federated business units spread globally. These business units had several email systems (consisting of various versions of Microsoft Exchange & IBM Domino Server) with no common standards or single SMTP domain.

Zymbian created a new global Microsoft Exchange mail platform utilising the latest software version.

With a single SMTP namespace created, the user migration was managed with minimal disruption.

Remote working was improved by the introduction of Outlook Anywhere, ActiveSync and Outlook Web Access.

Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager

The client had a need for patch management, software deployment and anti-virus control throughout their estate. Due to recent staff reductions, the ongoing administration overhead was a genuine concern.

Zymbian implemented a solution leveraging Microsoft SCCM and Forefront Endpoint Protection. This coupled with a self-service software portal met the needs of the client while reducing risk and management overheads.

Infrastructure Design

Enterprise wide Active Directory redesign and global migration

The client consisted of numerous separate businesses spread globally each with their own Active Directory domain. As part of a drive to centralise management and reduce costs, the challenge was set to create a single global Active Directory domain which permitted in-country administration while adhering to a global security model.

After gathering the various in-country requirements, Zymbian created a new scalable Active Directory structure and Group Policy Objects to fully meet with the remit.

Our infrastructure architects can either work with your existing team or alone to design the perfect solution for your organisation. Unlike larger consultancies, we don’t apply the cookie cutter approach to design – no two companies are the same. Instead we provide a tailored service that best suits your IT and business needs.

Predominately focused around the Microsoft product range, our architects also have a wealth of experience in all facets of IT including security, networks etc.

Below are a sample of the numerous design projects we have performed for clients.

Microsoft DirectAccess

Our client had a legacy remote working environment consisting of traditional VPN concentrators. When these reached the end of their service life, Zymbian were approached to recommend and execute their replacement.

Being huge fans of the seamless client connection afforded to the DirectAccess solution, we didn’t hesitate to recommend it. A brief demo of the Zymbian in-house implementation and examples of cost reduction, both through the lack of additional software licensing and client software administration, made the clients decision a simple one.

Greenfield data centre design & migration

Our client’s estate resided on shared infrastructure with their parent company. As our client grew in size and complexity, it was time for them to stand alone.

Zymbian were employed to design and migrate to a new data centre. Some of the solutions built in to the new estate were: deployment services for both server and client, secure DMZ permitting partner connectivity, full estate management and patching, new Active Directory allowing for future growth without the constraints of the parent AD structure, Office 365 email migration.

Estate virtualisation and migration to Hyper-V

Our client had an aging VMware estate with equality aging hosts.

Fearing a failure, Zymbian were employed to refresh the estate. Rather than simply follow the solution that was already in place, we chose to build the new estate utilising Hyper-V for Windows Server 2012 R2. The client made significant savings on licences alone. Additional savings are realised in the management of the estate due to the simplification of the products.
